Betting for mayweather and i’m not betting again, ever!

Today, may 3 (Philippine time), marks a very historic fight in the sport of boxing. 2 fighters whom many regards as the bests in this modern era finally will trade punches in the square ring. As many of you already knew, this fight was 5 years in the making. Whether all of that was part of the plan to cook this fight more and to hype it more, we can only conclude. What’s important is that now it really is happening, about 5 hours from the time i am writing this post.

I am a Filipino, a boxing fan, a Pacquiao fan and a Mayweather fan too. I am in awe of both guys capabilities and skill level as boxers. Pacquiao’s sheer determination combined with freakish speed and power and Floyds defensive genius and ring IQ. They both truly are the best, one could argue.

As a Filipino and a a countrymen of Manny, it is natural that i root for him and truly so I am rooting for him to win and want him to win to become the top boxer in the history of the sport. Should he beat Mayweather, there is no doubt in my mind that when the history books will be written, he will be considered at least on the top 5 of all time. He will be up there with the Robinson’s and the Ali’s. I could not be any prouder that a fellow countrymen took the world stage and battled with the best the world could offer and emerged on top of them. Isn’t that a great time to be a filipino and a big boxing fan? Continue reading

the wheels on the bus go round and round

497338947_640Just a line from a nursery song my 2 year old so often asks me to load on youtube. Take note that unlike most kids, we decided to let her be ipad or tablet illeterate, meaning she can’t do what other kids of the same age can on these high tech gizmos. This post is not about that by the way, i just seem to have LSS of it somewhere at the back of my head and thus i see it fitting to be the title of my post.

What’s with the title? nothing special really, in fact you could take it as it is. Like the wheels on the bus, life seems going round and round. Sometimes it’s ironic to a point. Tides can quickly change and what people hate on the past they will love in the present and hate again in the future. I think it’s a given and obvious but I just felt the need to write about it from my perspective. Fact is, the only constant in this world is change, except maybe for Einsteins speed of light equation lol. Continue reading

Book Review: Swift for the Really impatient

Photo Jan 03, 3 19 31 PM
I was one of the lucky ones who got to read this book early and so I decided to write a review for the benefit of my fellow developers out there, specially those who are trying to shift from web to mobile particulary in iOS development. I am writing this review in a PHP programmers perspective, I am a seasoned web developer but i have zero experience in mobile. With that said, i have already a deep understanding of how programming works and knows the usual syntaxes and workflows.

Ok, so what’s good with this book? as the book title suggests it’s really for those impatient ones who virtually have no time to dedicate in deeper reading or learning the language and wants to learn it on the fly but just needs some base. This book is not for everyone. If you have zero experience in programming and want to learn swift, you will have a hard time understanding the concepts presented in this book. Continue reading

New Home for this blog

2015 New year’s day happened just a few weeks and there were tons of things I wanna write and share that happened on the months i did not touch this blog.  Primary reason i hesitate on writing is that this blog was hosted on a free hosting at Don’t get me wrong though, they gave me a truly excellent service as a free host and all of the items they stated as part of their free service was there and more. I can’t say anything bad about byet hosting in fact i can confidently say, and with a firsthand experience that arguably they offer the best free hosting service on the internet. I am speaking of course in terms of having a blog or personal websites which are written in PHP as it’s the only thing i tested. So all in all my experience was great and If i need a free hosting they’re my top choice. But then again as a free hosting it has it’s share of limitation, for one they only allow a certain amount of traffic per day and if your site reach that thresold your site will get suspended and re upped the following day when the traffic cap is reset and second big issue for me is the security, they would not be held liable if anything happens to your site, if it gets take down by stupid hackers then their hands are clean or if something goes awry and you lost all your data then they’ll have nothing to do with it. I am not sure though if this is really in their terms but that’s the way i see it. I mean, it’s free right, so you are entitled to NO help, you get your hosting as it is. So there, those reasons contributed why i hesitate to blog regularly and put tremendous effort in blogging. Continue reading

i can see clearly now na na na na…

I’m singing now and happily so because as that famous line says, i can see clearly now, but it’s not because of the rain or the clouds have left but it’s because i finally had the time to get my eyes checked. I knew something was wrong with them because reading letters from a distance are getting harder and harder and I can’t see the faces of people on the mall walking from a distance from me. Friends might have thought i was some sort of a snob if somehow i would not give a nod when we happen to come across at the mall but the truth is i can hardly see your faces. It’s like a big dot to me walking from a far. Continue reading

God’s not dead, must see for believers and none

God’s not dead 2014

I’m talking about this movie -> The title says it all and it’s what this movie is all about. The message is really simple, it makes us realize that God is there, that our God is real and that we should all be living for God and that everything here on earth is temporary. God should be our ultimate Goal, not wealth, not health and physique, not fame, not earthly happiness but a real relationship with God. Don’t get me wrong though, i do not mean that making money is bad, nor is working hard for your health to be better but if you let these things your purpose for living then you’re making a huge mistake. Some might argue that they want to be wealthy so that they can take care of there children’s future and that is correct, no arguments but in gaining this wealth are we sidetracking our relationship with God? You can have all the money and I guarantee you that without God’s blessing and grace your children’s future are not secured. How many rich kids life ended up in a complete mess? Talk about excessive partying, doing drugs and just living carelessly and happy-go-lucky. Now with all those money, yes you’re child seems happy living life to the fullest but are you really happy about it? Continue reading

My First Fun Run

L-R: My Wife Guia, Me, Lynx (friend of my wife), our daughter glee piggybacking, @jollibee family fun run 2014 Aug 10

A night before the fun run, i felt really excited and nervous at the same time. I had run 10km only once and it was just a relax run not really something of a race effort. In my head i kept on saying what if I end up really winded and not being able to finish it and what if i collapse due to exhaustion there are many ifs in my mind. I didn’t sleep well that night, maybe i managed to sleep like 5 hours tops, i wake up really early, more or less 3am in the morning. When i decided that i needed to get up already and prepare i felt some energy that surge in my body, I felt like i was ready. I was well rested because i haven’t run for 5 days before the race. There were 0 pains in my legs. I feel so fresh coming to the race.

So we headed to NCCC mall, that’s the venue of the race and the starting line, with my wife and her friend and with our baby daughter glee who was still half asleep in the car. They we’re running too but only 3k and they brought a stroller where our daughter would just sit and my wife pushing the stroller throughout the length of their race. I went ahead and run earlier than them because i’m gunning for 10k so our gun start was an hour earlier than them. So i went to the crowd, then have my race details checked and then i heard the call for all the 10k runners. I then headed to the assembly area with the runners who are also participating. I had no running buddy with me so i just stood at the corner listening to some songs from my phone. I also whispered my prayers and asks for his guidance and protection while running. Happy Birthday Miness!

Happy birthday to my wife! yes today it is!

So if you have read an earlier blog i made about me needing help of what gift i’m gonna give to my wife and if you are curious what it is and how did it went then this is the blog post about it. 🙂

I remembered i wrote that blog like a month earlier to give me ample to time to buy the gift and maybe surprise her but it actually turned out me buying the gift like  only a day before or hours before her birthday.

I actually thought i won’t be able to give her any gift because i was running out of time and i didn’t quite have the time to sneak without her knowing i’m buying her a gift. Also, an unfortunate event has happened, she accidentally bumped a rock while driving our car and it made a really ugly dent. I was pissed off and really thought that she does not deserve any gift from me. Of course emotion was high at that time and i really did not meant what i said. Anyways the day after that incident, we went to the city to sign some documents and have the car checked by our dealer. I said that i’m gonna head home directly and just let her go alone to have the car checked to the dealer. That timing was perfect, and since she thought i was heading home, that gave me sometime to drop by to the mall and scout some gifts. Continue reading

New Shoes, New MILEStone

My Skechers Go Run 2 - running shoes

My Skechers Go Run 2 – running shoes

I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that i am recently into this running activity. It appears i am going serious on it which is really what i want. The benefits of running are endless although there are cons.

So last week, i felt it’s cons. My knees are very sore after running like 5km on alternate days. I’ve read and researched about it and it turns out it maybe because of my feet and my shoes. I learned that i needed to know which type of feet do i have with a very simple wet test. Found out afterwards that i am flat footed, the arches on my feet is very low. Also by observing the wear on my shoes i found out that i am on overpronator, and that this motion is very prone to injury. I needed shoes specifically made for running. I wasted no time to browse the internet and read reviews and asked around. A friend also suggested a shoe and then when i read reviews to those who uses it, it turned out it was a great shoes and budget friendly compared to other brands. I end up buying the skechers Go Run 2, mind you, this is my most expensive shoe to date but compared to other brands it appears as a good bargain. Try to browse for running shoes with the brands Newton, Saucony, Brooks, Mizuno, or even Nike and you’ll see. I bought this pair for P4,395 and thankfully the guy at the cashier offered us a 10% discount if we avail for an SM advantage card and we did. Continue reading

My CLP experience

you got it right. CLP, it’s Christian life program. If you reached this blog you probably already heard of CLP through a friend who invited you or probably have read it on facebook on someone’s posting.

So what is CLP in a nutshell? firstly this is a religious activity, that’s a given. It consists of 13 weekdays, 1 day on each week for 13 weeks succession, that will require you to attend and sit down for like 2-3 hours of your time. So example if your CLP day is on a saturday then each saturday on the next 13 weeks you will devote it to CLP, most probably same time every saturday. What’s gonna happen on that 13 saturdays? On the first saturday, this is important, this is the Orientation. So for what it’s called, it is what it is. You’ll be oriented of what this CLP is all about and what you need to do and what you’ll expect and of course a lot of encouragement from the guys who already have finished CLP. I actually missed this orientation day for some reasons (how i regret it later though). The next 12 saturdays are like a seminar format, wherein they have a speaker, usually elder members of the couples for christ or priests, they call it talks. Each talks has different topics although they are inter related. They are all about the formation of couples, lives as individuals forming with God on the center. After each talks couples will be grouped, albeit separately. All husbands forms a group of 3-5 members same with wives. Husbands get to discuss with other husbands and wives get to discuss with other wives. Each group will have a discussion leader, they are usually elder members of the couples for Christ, not necessarily older but let’s think of them as the guys who also went to CLP 2-3 years before you. Then of course, since it’s a long talk and the members understandably will get hungry, and here’s my favorite part (kidding!) there is food. yummy delicious food. So to sum up, there’ll be talks, discussions, prayers and worship songs for 13 days spread on 13 weeks. Continue reading
